Biography
Alexa
is a singer and composer, who loves to combine in her songs, mystical
veils of orchestral sounds with the power of hard guitar riffs and her
classical singing voice.
At the age of 16 she discovered her enthusiasm for Hard Rock and Heavy
Metal music. Three years later she saw the musical "The Phantom of the
Opera" in Hamburg and was very impressed by the combination of classic
music with elements of rock and pop music. Especially, the great voice
of the leading singer Anna-Maria Kaufmann caught
her attention. So she decided to take singing lessons.
From 1991-1996 she attended practical lessons at the Kreismusikschule
Celle. Her teachers were Ingrid Bensch and Karin
Küfner. For two years she also was a member of the
choir "pro arte musica" conducted by Paul Bischoff.
During this time, Alexa started to write some songs of her own, but was
not sure at that time what her
preferred music style should be.
She tried a few different musical activities, including attending
courses in oriental dancing (2003-2005) and taking part in a one-week
musical workshop at the "Stage School" in Hamburg (2004).
Further she found some more inspiration in music, like the film scores
by Hans Zimmer and Howard Shore
and the songs of the Finnish metal band Nightwish, which finally made
her realise how to combine her preferred music styles.
In 2006 she decided to restart taking singing lessons, with Roland
Loy, who turned out to be a very good teacher. He was not
only a singing teacher, he also provided the possibility for his
students to record their own written songs in his studio. So she
introduced a few of her songs to him.
Her singing lessons started in January 2007 and subsequently in
March/April, the work on her first three pieces "Selkie", "The
sorrowful face of the moon" and "Storyteller" followed. Four more songs
were recorded in November/December 2007 and in May 2008 her first album
called "Storyteller" was finished.
Together with her friend Tribal-dancer Clarissa
Alexa got the chance to
present some of her songs to a larger audience in May and June 2008.
Her official homepage went online on 1st August 2008. Informations
about songs, photos and news can be read here.
This was followed by interviews with several web-zines and internet
radio stations, and in February 2009 her song "The little accountant"
was chosen for the CD-sampler "pearls from the
underground" Vol. 3,
a sampler which was released by the underground-magazine "Dark Feather".
In December 2008 she found a guitarist named Ömür,
who now
supports her in writing new songs as well as in recording them in the
studio and performing on stage.
Two new songs out of this work called "Vampira misera" and "Flashbacks"
were produced in
January/February 2009 and were played live first time at their gig on
14th March 2009.
For a planned festival in June 2010 two friends
of Ömür joined the band.
In the end the festival was cancelled, but the two musicians, Dennis
(drums) and Dominik (bass), stayed and had as well
already the chance to show that they are able to do a very good job on
stage.
